We stayed for three days in the Njari Camp with Deo, Hugo and Emi. We had a great time in the lodge, visiting the village, the forest and the school. The hospitality and kindness were overwhelming and inspiring. We will yell our friends about this unique and wonderful place and are hoping to visit again in the future. Thanks a lot, you are great people and we will remember this experience forever!"

"We stayed here for 5 days and I am very glad we did. We learned a lot about Chagga culture and saw some of the most spectacular views of the world, I think. We were even lucky enough to see some columbus monkeys in the forest. Thank you very much to the entire staff for an unforgettable experience.

"It was a memorable 5 day experienceon the slopes of mount Kilimanjaro. The trips to the local schools were very enlightening, educational and gave a glimpse of the hopes and challenges for Tanzania in the future. Excursions to the coffee farms, banana brew factory and spending time witrh the locals opened my eyes to the ways of the people. Nature hikes to the water falls (especially the big one) were not to be missed! Breathtaking scenery and a perfect test for your physical condition. None of this would have happened without our wonderful friends for the 5 days: Deo, Emi and Stratton. They were the friendly faces of the campsite and I will definately recommend the Njari campsite to everyone interested in travelling to Africa. ASENTE!

"Beautiful place to situate the campsite, we felt secure within the campsite but still within the community. Deo took us through the beer and coffee making progress which were very interesting. What a beautiful way to start the new year climbing Kilimanjaro! Thank you for your hospitality"

" 'We have just returned from a fantastic trip to Njari Lodge & Campsite. We loved the beautiful situation of the site, with it's amazing views of the top of Kilimanjaro - really spectacular. We really enjoyed walking through the forest to the waterfalls, and walking around the village and visiting the local drinking dens! Mike our guide was really wonderful - incredibly hospitable and kind. He gave us a fantastic insight into Chagga life and culture, and taught us some of the Chagga language too. I think your project is a fantastic way of providing a fascinating place for people to visit alongside valuable work for local people. '

The food was great thanks - it was good to sample some genuine local fare!

Stratton obviously has lots of plans for the site and the new huts look as though they are coming along really nicely. It might be nice if you set up a solar shower? I was really impressed that you have a flushing loo! We had spent many days without one!

Best wishes,
Ali

We visited Njari Campsite in August 2005 and had a wonderful experience living among the Chagga people. Our hosts were gracious and friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed. Over the course of three days we visited waterfalls, walked through the rainforest, went on a coffee excursion, visited the local market and saw the local banana brew being made. A place like Njari where you sit in peace as local dishes are cooked for you, with only the glow of kerosene lamps around, and a huge canopy of stars above is one you will not regret visiting. We stayed 5 nights at Njari camp and had a wonderful time. Stratton the manager was excellent and very helpful and friendly. we had two excellent ladies cooking and we also cooked ourselves for everybody. The markets were beautiful and stunning walks up to the Cloud forest, with great bird watching. We also went to the local church and enjoyed the singing and service. Njari Camp is a great place to stay, very reasonable and you get to see a bit of daily life instead of the bubble world of the safari's which give you little idea of what Tanzania is like.

Shane

"A totally amazing experience! Both the campsite and the trip up the mountain gave a unique opportunity to experience Kilimanjaro and the Tanzanian hospitality and culture first hand, from the locals."' Louisa Stott, Carlisle

It was a 'fantastic adventure surrounded by some of the most wonderful sights and sounds that only the forest can offer'. 'A totally unique experience incomparable to any other campsite I have ever visited'. ''An amazing location with views and an atmosphere which is out of this world!' 'A
thoroughly comfortable and friendly environment with views to match'.
Paul McFarland, Penrith

“The campsite was stunning, superbly situated amidst lush rainforest vegetation, banana trees and strikingly beautiful tropical flowers. Individual tent placements were spacious with well defined plant borders. Camping facilities were very acceptable and perfectly adequate. The traditionally constructed shelter afforded the opportunity to dine communally, socialise and share experiences and stories with friends. This favourable appointed campsite offered immediate access into the forest, past local habitation's following a water course into the dense vegetation clothing the lower slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Excitement rose, adrenalin raced as the route threaded a narrow line through deep bracken, hanging branches festoons with lichens and creepers. At one with nature we climbed following an ancient water course until breathtaking views of the Rau valley were visible., slopes clocked in green plunging beneath us with spectacular cascades plummeting ever downwards towards the river ….. a living sculpture enhanced by an atmospheric, drifting mist, bird song, and monkey calls. A magnificent and magical experience in an area of unique beauty.”
Sue Clarke, Keswick
